Wheat Glorious Wheat.

So what's the big deal with a bunch of wheat, you might ask?  It's ours!!

I'm sorry I didn't make it to our big property with Hubby late last week and over the weekend. He however, wasn't going to miss it for the world. His first wheat harvest!  The contractors were half way through the crop by the time Hubby got there. He hopped onto a harvestor and off he went. He tells me it was soooo exciting. I'm so proud of him; and pleased too.

We certainly could of used more rain. The yield wasn't great. But the quality? Second to none. My son Mitch and the property manager took in a sample last week to assess the grade.  The news couldn't have been more pleasing. The best protein content making it A1 grade. It means Hubby will get top price for his wheat which was $292 a tonne. No where near enough tonnage to make the crop profitable this year, but the boys have learned heaps and they have a much better understanding of how to do things bigger and better next time. It's nice to know the soil is fantastic and the potential is exciting. Lessons learned.

Now onto model making, water storage building and the big money spinner - cotton!! Ooooh, even I'm excited about that one.
